Project abstract:
The steadily accumulating hints of physics beyond the Standard Model of particle interactions – non-zero neutrino masses, the baryon asymmetry of the Universe, the existence of dark matter and the recently identified anomalies in B-meson decays (to name just few) – call for a new level of scientific commitment and efforts from the research groups on the quest for their understanding. Among many different theoretical approaches to this conundrum a particular role is played by those based on the minimal extensions of the Standard Model where the room for new phenomena is typically constrained to such a degree that new and potentially testable predictions may often be drawn. This, together with the ever-improving prospects for the new generation of cutting-edge experimental facilities designed to overcome the limits at all frontiers of the current knowledge makes the future of the high-energy physics research particularly interesting and promising.
The merit of the project is to develop and further support a recently formed research team focusing on topics in high-energy physics related to the existing hints of new phenomena beyond the Standard model of particle interactions.
