Public transport in Prague
Public transport in Prague consists mainly of buses, metro and trams. There is also the Petřín funicular (not far from the conference site).
Tickets with four different periods of validity are available:
All tickets are transfer tickets, it means that you are allowed to change between
different kinds of transport.
A ticket must be validated in one of the yellow validators (at the entrance to the metro,
on the tram or bus) when you start your journey. From that moment for the allowed period (30min, 90min,...) you can freely used any of the mentioned systems.
You can buy tickets in ticket machines at metro stations, public transport information
centres, most tobacconists, etc.
All above mentioned tickets are valid for the whole Prague, including airport.
At airport we suggest you to contact "Public transport information", buy a ticket (90-min should be enough, or you can buy 72-hour ticket for the whole period of the workshop) and go outside of the Terminal to take bus 119 to the "Dejvická metro station". Be careful about the direction, with buses going to Letiště Ruzyně you might end up in the middle of nowhere. At Dejvicka metro station there is a line A. It is only 2 stops to Malostranska for the conference venue.
For further information or other options see this page. You can also consult the official public transport pages where you can find all information (e.g. any connection between two places). However, note that just now we are facing remnants of the flooding so the webpage is full of temporarily changes in the system (some metro stations are closed now, some tram lines are altered, etc). We think that the whole system will return to normal in a few days, so you don't need to worry about this. In any case please consult our web-page for updates.
Czech Republic uses a 230 volt 50 Hz system with standardized round plug with two round pins.
