The currency in the Czech Republic is the Czech Crown (CZK). In March 2011 there were about 18 Czech Crowns to 1 US$ and 25 Czech Crowns to 1 Euro. In order to be able to pay for public transportation or a taxi, it is recommended to get some cash immediately after your arrival. In almost all other places you can use a credit card.
The Prague airport (in Czech Letiste Ruzyne) is located approximately 18 km from the downtown. To reach the Prague centre you can use a taxi or a public transportation.
If you choose the first option, it is strongly recommended to use the "AAA Taxi" service. At Terminal 1 the cabs with easily visible "AAA" can be found near Exit D, while in the case of Terminal 2 - near Exit E. If the traffic is not high the taxi will cost about 500 CZK. When paying, please, ask for a receipt and remember that tips are less than 10%.
You can also use a low-cost bus-and-subway public transportation. In this case, seek the bus stop for bus No. 119, which stops at both terminals (bus stop "Terminal 1" or "Terminal 2") and go by bus No. 119 to the station "Dejvicka" where you can change the bus for the subway "Line A". You can find the particular conection at the here. The transfer ticket for the whole route from Ruzyne Airport will cost 32 CZK (40 CZK if bought from the bus driver). A charge for a "big-size" luggage is 16 CZK.
